Question: What makes probabilistic matching better than other matching technology?
Answer: Probabilistic matching achieves higher match rates with lower error rates when compared to other types of deterministic (rules based) matching technologies. Our software does this by trying to mimic the human thought process, the idea being that 'if a human can go through a series of comparisons, eventually coming up with a probable match, then we can build a software to accomplish the same task'. Simply put: Broad rules ignore good matches, and lenient rules introduce errors.
Question: I understand your approach, but doesn't your software have a long run-time?
Answer: Run time for the Accumatch software is quicker than you might think. Our comparisons are dynamically built into the software. Typical run time across a broad spectrum of counties is about 20,000 per hour on a personal computer. If your company runs on a server, you can expect rates at least double that. For any specific technical questions you may have, please contact us, and we'll be happy to answer them.
Question: Is this a stand-alone product, or can it be integrated into my existing processes?
Answer: This software can be built into your existing processes, or can be a stand-alone package. Keep in mind that this is a solution, not just a product that we offer. You'd be surprised at the ease of integrating this into your existing processes.
Question: How can I be sure that there are few errors returned by your software?
Answer: We recommend that you test our product. Our intention is to make you comfortable with the decisions that you make, and conducting a test in a broad range of counties is the best option to satisfy your curiosity.
Question: We'd love to test your product, but isn't that time consuming and expensive?
Answer: It doesn't have to be. We pride ourselves on returning your test data back to you very quickly. If you already have a set of data that you've matched automatically or by hand, our results can be compared to yours. A simple comparison will highlight any discrepancies and shorten the time required to review the results.
